The GNC Technical Alliance currently has five groups – or workstreams – working together to develop and share knowledge and advice around key, cross-cutting themes relevant to Nutrition in Emergencies (NiE). These groups are available to provide you with technical support in any of these five areas when a need arises.
Cross-cutting themes are those that are not technical in nature (so are not limited to nutrition) but are important for ensuring good quality programming. Cross-cutting themes might have specificities to nutrition but generally are equally applicable to other programme areas.
Each workstream aims to develop a common approach to mainstreaming these issues into NiE coordination and programming, provide a focal person for support, map and collate guidance for practitioners, and develop simple, practical tools for nutrition professionals.
The Alliance is also discussing the development of a possible sixth workstream to address climate and environmental considerations in Nutrition in Emergencies.

Currently, the six workstreams consist of members from the GNC Technical Alliance, the Global Nutrition Cluster (GNC), and additional experts from partner agencies representing each of the key themes.
However, the vision is to open up membership to all partners, nutrition practitioners, and country-level actors who hold technical expertise across any of these six themes or would like to expand their understanding of one of these topics.
