Briony

Global Nutrition Cluster

Hello, my name is Briony, I am the Deputy Nutrition Cluster Coordination on the Global Nutrition Cluster Coordination Team (GNC-CT), and I am also part of the Alliance’s Technical Support Team. In this position, I support nutrition coordination mechanisms before, during and after emergencies. Support includes responding to queries from country-level coordination mechanisms, but also reaching out to ensure a continual level of engagement and support. Examples of what I do includes supporting Clusters with activated Humanitarian Programme Cycles (HPC) with their main HPC-related outputs including annual nutrition analyses (Humanitarian Needs Overviews) and response plans (Humanitarian Response Plans). I also support all nutrition coordination mechanisms (Cluster and Sector) that are vulnerable to or responding to emergencies, with annual cluster performance assessments and work plans (Cluster Coordination Performance Monitoring), and preparedness.

I am a public health nutritionist and my area of interest is nutrition (in all its forms) in humanitarian contexts. My educational background includes a PhD in Public Health focusing on maternal and child nutrition, a Masters in Public Health and a Bachelor's Degree in Health Science (Nutrition and Dietetics). I have approximately 15 years of experience working in health and nutrition policy, NiE programmes, and nutrition cluster/sector coordination; primarily in emergency contexts across the Middle East, east and west Africa, south Asia and the Pacific.

I live in Geneva with my husband, two daughters and fish.
