Technical NiE

My name is Joseph Victor Senesie. I am a Sierra Leonean with over 25 years of work experience in development and humanitarian contexts. I work as a Nutrition Specialist, as part of UNICEF’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the GNC Technical Alliance’s Technical Support Team. I provide technical support to countries responding to nutrition in emergencies through remote and physical deployments in countries. Besides remote support, I have provided in country support in Bangladesh, Yemen, Sudan, and most recently in Ethiopia. At the moment, I am on deployment to coordinate the subnational nutrition cluster coordination in Tigray, Northern Ethiopia.

As a master trainer in Community based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) and Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF), I have a passion for nutrition in emergency programming, including the treatment of child wasting, IYCF, and coordination of nutrition response. Furthermore, I contributed to developing the 21 Nutrition in Emergencies online training modules found on the UNICEF AGORA. Apart from attaining MA in Health and Community Development and a Master of Public Health (MPH), I am currently pursuing a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) degree with Walden University, USA.

When I am not travelling to support countries in humanitarian crisis, I live in New Jersey state, USA and work with UNICEF NY. While my wife lives in London completing her nutrition degree at Kingston University, United Kingdom.
