UNICEF

My name is Megan Gayford, a Nutrition Specialist based in New York at UNICEF HQ. Part of my job is co-leading the GNC Technical Alliance for UNICEF, where I get to steer the ship with World Vision International and make sure we're doing our best to provide the services we're known for.

My day-to-day includes figuring out what needs our focus, finding resources, and engaging with different organizations in the Nutrition in Emergencies (NiE) space. I also manage a team who are all about helping countries and regions dealing with nutrition crises. We also work on some interesting projects, like nutrition information systems and women’s nutrition in humanitarian crisis.

I have a BS in Nutrition Dietetics and a Masters of Public Health from the University of Sydney, back in Australia. During the Pandemic I finished an Exec MBA from Cranfield University in the UK. I've been lucky enough to work all over the world - Africa, Asia, and Europe - in all sorts of nutrition and food security roles with different UN agencies and Save the Children UK.

When I'm not at work, I'm living the suburban Brooklyn life as an Aussie expat and having a brilliant time. I have a couple of tiny humans under 4 at home who I both adore and who drive me a little nuts in equal measure. You’ll often find me at the local playground, iced coffee in hand.
